Subject Overview
Languages
We are the only school in Rwanda to conduct all our classes in both French and English. The only exception to this are the Kinyarwanda lessons, which we conduct in our local language.
Mathematics
We introduce mathematics in kindergarten and it remains a core part of the curriculum through to graduation. We cover measurement (metric system), algebra, geometry, statistics, operations and probability.
Social Studies
The inclusion of Social Studies throughout the primary curriculum signifies the importance of the subject and the role it plays in a student’s life. These classes embrace a wide range of subjects including History, Geography, Cultural Studies, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology.
Science & Technology
Increasingly a vital subject in a fast-changing world, we also look at problem-solving and seek to develop critical thinking skills. These classes include a wide range of studies including the human body, protection of animals, the use of hand tools and caring for the environment.
Computer science
The world of computers constantly offers new and amazing ways in which to explore and learn and thus our methods of teaching are evolving all the time. We have a full-time ICT teacher who works with children from age 6 to 11. Our school uses optic fibres as a source of internet and the school computer laboratory is available for classes throughout the week.
Arts and Crafts
Our school is keen to foster creativity and allow students to realise their full artistic potential. Grouped in different workshops of craft-making and pottery, children are taught to appreciate art in a broader context beyond the classroom.
Sports
Headed by a talented and qualified teacher in sports, we are geared towards offering a conducive environment for nurturing students’ talents in all sporting activities.
Music
Music in Ahazaza is a tool through which we inculcate the appreciation of cultural diversity. Our students have access to a range of musical instruments such as piano, guitars, flutes and drums. The students have a lot of fun dancing traditionally and playing drums.
